Memories in 2009…So Far!

In the year 2009, there were so many events and so many memories to remember. On January 2009, Barack Obama was inaugurated and now he’s the 44th president of the United States. That day open the doors for many minorities they have the opportunity to accomplish anything they want. Then on February 2009, disaster struck when Chris Brown allegedly abuse and attack Rihanna. This event occurred during the Grammy Awards and Chris Brown’s career in music was shattered. It was also the month that the Pittsburg Steelers beat the Arizona Cardinals in the Super Bowl. Plus, the movie, Slumdog Millionaire, not only won Best Motion Picture in 2009 in the Oscars, but also brought the styles of Bollywood into America. On March 2009, rapper T.I. was sentenced to one year and one day in prison for gun charges. Then on April 2009, eccentric superstar Lady Gaga made history as the new electro pop queen and she is the new artist to have 2 number one hits including “Just Dance” and “Poker Face”. That month also brought in the humorous feud between Eminem and actor Sacha Baron Cohen a.k.a. Bruno on the MTV Movie Awards. On May 2009, Kris Allen defeated Adam Lambert on the 8th season of American Idol. On June 2009, the Black Eyed Peas made history when their first number one hit, Boom Boom Pow, went number one for 12 weeks and their second number one hit, I Gotta Feeling, went number one for 14 weeks. That month also brought in a devastating worldwide tragedy when the King of Pop Michael Jackson died of cardiac arrest due to drug overdose. He was 50 years old. That month also brought in the NBC finals, when the Los Angeles Lakers won the 2009 NBC Championship by defeating the Orlando Magic in 4 games and Kobe Bryant becoming the NBC MVP. On July 2009, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince became the top-grossing film of 2009 by having $928,161, 086 in the box office worldwide. That month led to the worldwide memorial of Michael Jackson’s passing. Just after 2 months of Michael Jackson’s passing, Adam Goldstein, a.k.a. DJ AM, died of drug overdose on August 2009. That month also brought in Caster Semenya’s winning gold medals in the 800 meters at the 2009 World Championships in Athletics in Berlin. It was spread rumors that she’s a hermaphrodite. Then on September 2009, Kanye West disrupted Taylor Swift’s first VMA speech by him saying, “Beyonce has one of the best music videos of all time”, Serena Williams lost her temper at the Wimbledon Arena, and Rep. Joe Wilson infamous “you lie” affects Barack Obama’s ways of taking care of health care. For the rest of the months for 2009, we’ll never know what we will gain, what we will lose, and what will we experience for the next year.
