Kenya’s Healing

By Gary Barton
Too much blood in the sands
Not enough helping hands

Tears flow like rivers, like Nile
Can’t find joy, not even a smile

People are thinning, weight and count
They can’t help but to scream and shout

Under a power they can’t control
It won’t do good to reverse the role

Humanity’s darkest moment
Death’s more welcomed than visitors’ spent

Black beauties suffering much
Taken away where rape is hushed

Where is the healing that Kenya needs?
It’s mostly spent on other’s greed

If tomorrow comes and they got a chance
Freedom be with them with a chant and a dance

(To the 147 victims of the Kenya University shootings on April 2015. May peace and healing be with you, Kenya!)
