Kendrick Lamar “DAMN.”
You knew this was coming. He is number one once again. After couple of years from his black opus album “To Pimp A Butterfly”, K-Dot schools us again with his more personal and radio-friendly album, DAMN. Now don’t get me wrong. From his last album we had hard jazz and prolific storytelling. But now we get deeper into his world and wondering why God is leading him to a world of no promise. The only question that comes to mind is, what concept is he going to pick up next and how is he going to top his previous work. One thing’s for sure, it will be better than his last and all we will be saying is…DAMN.
Top Tracks: Just by the DAMN. album. It’s really worth it!
1.) The Avalanches – “Wildflower”
16 years later, the Avalanches are back and they are more creative than ever. Focusing more on going to a psychedelic trip with hip hop beats and ranging on R&B and rare samples, the Avalanches’ “Wildflower” is a one-of-a-kind masterpiece that shows that they never lost their edge and fun. The main reason why this is the album of 2016 is not only because of their great return, it’s really because they stay true to themselves and embrace absurdity in music in the most cunning and intricate way. Welcome back to music!

Kendrick Lamar – “To Pimp A Butterfly”
THIS…IS…THE…ALBUM…TO…END…ALL…ALBUMS…IN…2015…AND SO FAR…THIS DECADE!!! What’s more to say about this extraordinary masterpiece? It’s the modern day answer to Marvin Gaye’s “What Goin’ On” and its message is quite clear…AMERICA IS FUCKED UP! Lamar holds nothing back and lashes out the truth on black-on-black crimes, racism, police brutality, personal life issues, and how to cover all that with optimism. Infusing jazz, hip-hop, funk, soul, and consciousness on “To Pimp a Butterfly”; and with a grand line-up with producers and collaborators as well as a short interview with the late Tupac Shakur (Mortal Man), K. Dot proved why he’s by far the greatest storytellers of our generation. And with 11 nominations for the 2016 Grammys, damn right K. Dot deserves the acknowledgement and damn right it gives his musicality and creativity justice.
